MARIN INDEPENDENT JOURNAL -- Plante grew up in San Rafael and graduated from San Rafael High School in 1987. She received a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from UC Berkeley and a master’s degree in Broadcast Communication Arts from San Francisco State University.
Although she started her career in television broadcasting as a traffic reporter and producer for KRON, she eventually took over management of the company started by her grandfather, Martin Bramante, who acquired the San Quentin Landfill in 1967. The site in East San Rafael has since been commercially developed as the Shoreline Center. Plante is president and CEO of CPi Developers, a real estate development company that owns and operates the center.
