SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE -- As a rule I don’t write about exhibitions I have not seen in person, but the annual Murphy and Cadogan Contemporary Art Awards Exhibition is reliably surprising and challenging. Winners of the $40,000 Jack and Gertrude Murphy Award (San Francisco State’s Shirin Khalatbari, pictured) and 16 Edwin Anthony and Adalaine Boudreaux Cadogan Scholarships of $6,500 each are current students in the Bay Area’s best master of fine arts programs. The exhibition, which runs for four days only, celebrates the artists and the work that earned cash prizes.
