Julie McClain Powell will get her moment on stage May 23, as the College of Liberal and Creative Arts’ graduate hood recipient, receiving the symbolic investiture of the hood to represent her peers.

SF State selects a Bachelor’s and Master’s hood recipient for each of the six academic colleges, as the top graduating students.

Powell’s award-winning work as a History graduate student has been presented at conferences and published in historical journals, including her paper on iconoclasm in 16th-century Paris. Her thesis is titled “Comprehensive Examination in History of Europe Since 1500.” She will pursue a doctorate in history at Ohio State University.
